twice, i attended a show by myself. both times it was because i didn't have anyone to go with, and i couldn't stand the idea of being in the same city as a particular artist and not getting to see them perform. time #2 was sarah harmer at the 2003 ottawa folk fest.
also, while we're on the subject, (and i don't have concrete proof of this but) i'm pretty sure that my repeated listening of a sarah harmer album once cured me of an illness.
kathleen edwards, on the other hand, is someone i know very little about, except to say that she's also canadian, and she goes out with justin vernon (of bon iver). i like him (them) a lot but i just hadn't gotten into her. at least, not thus far. i had her filed under "probably not for me". but then i heard her interviewed on Q, and it was mentioned that her album is about her divorce and, suddenly, she became much more interesting to me.
