enlightened.

i don't watch many TV series.   and i don't mean that in a pretentious i-don't-really-watch-TV kind of way.  i WANT to watch, there just aren't many series i relate to.  but a writer-client recommended enlightened.  he spoke so highly of it that i had to investigate further.

i knew laura dern was in it but i didn't realize that it was also created by her and mike white.  if you don't remember mike white's first film chuck & buck, you'll definitely remember freaks & geeks, which he wrote and produced.  enlightened also stars (dern's ridiculously talented and gorgeous mum) diane ladd, (super hottie and the perfect mix of sensitive/artsy guy and manly man) luke wilson, and a bunch of other actors i'd never heard of but who are extremely well cast and convincing in their roles.

this is imdb's description of the plot:
"a self-destructive woman who has a spiritual awakening becomes determined to live an enlightened life, creating havoc at home and work."  sold!  i watched the whole first season in one sitting last night.  have i mentioned i have no self-control?

you may be aware of all of this already but i'm just finding out so bear with me.
