this morning, i was checking instagram, and rainn wilson, whose photos i follow on there, posted a picture of a book he'd just read and highly recommended. i like rainn wilson for lots of reasons, not least of which is that he's a baha'i. one of my favourite people in the world/my homeopath/naturopath/the man who healed me/changed my life is a baha'i. i met him when i lived in ottawa, after toronto, and before montreal, in a particularly confusing period of my life, and one in which i was physically unwell. but this post isn't about my homeopath, although, considering how remarkable he is, and what a profound effect he's had on my life, i should probably write one, if not several posts about him. and i likely will at some point. there's just so much to write about when it comes to him. and it's hard to write about him without getting into super personal stuff about me, and, i suppose, i'm not convinced i want to share THAT much. but i'm getting off-topic again. my point was, is, in my experience, baha'is are generally outstanding human beings.
anyway, rainn wilson.
who, aside from being on the office, and being hilarious, and a baha'i (!), also created soul pancake, which is pretty stinkin' brilliant, if you ask me.
so he recommends this book, and because of the aforementioned reasons, and because i am in full-blown book-reading and looking-for-answers-as-to-why-life-is-how-it-is mode, i went to the bookstore and bought the book. along with 3 other books that i may or may not write about later on, depending on how good they are.
but this book. this book, which i started reading a few hours ago and have not put down until now (only so i could write this post), is fantastic. the author is a psychoanalyst, who's been practicing for 25 years. and each story is of a particular patient, with a particular, human story, and talks about where and how the answers and insight and breakthroughs came from. it's fascinating.
ok, that's all i wanted to say.
i have to get back to the book now.
