crush of the month/seeing double: charlotte gainsbourg and sofia coppola.

 

i've been trying to figure out which one of these two talented and super cool women to pick as my "crush of the month"...

but the more i thought about them, the more they became almost interchangeable to me...

and when i stopped to think of why that was, i realized just how many similarities they have.

aside from their looks, their age (39) and their low-key/underwhelmed without seeming too cool for school attitudes, both women are still with their baby-daddies (charlotte with husband/actor yvan attal, and sofia with thomas mars of the band pheonix), ...

both are working mommas (CG to ben and alice, and SC to romy and cosima), ...

both had/have insanely successful fathers (serge and francis ford), ...

both have a similar appreciation for simple, well-tailored, classic style with just a spoonful of edginess to help the elegance go down, ...

and both, of course, have outstanding, creative careers.

charlotte gainsbourg is starring in lars von trier's latest film, melancholia, along with kiersten dunst and kiefer sutherland.  it's set to be relased in the spring.

sofia coppola's newest film, somewhere, will be out on january 7th.  can't stinkin' wait.
