making it happen for yourself.

almost a year ago, i started watching and following a webseries called failure club.  i'm pretty sure i've mentioned it on this blog before.  the guy who started the project is morgan spurlock, who's also the guy who made "super size me".

anyway,  he got together a group of new yorkers who each had a dream that they thought was almost impossible to achieve.  one lady wanted to be a paid stand-up comic, another lady wanted to quit her job and start her own catering business, one of the guys wanted to start his own clothing line and open a store... you get the idea.  so, this whole past year, i've been watching these people try to make their dreams come true.

the show is now coming to an end, and, in these last episodes, we're seeing if these people were successful or not.  and what's amazing is that many of them were.

last year, they each set a goal that they thought they would probably never achieve and, a year later, many of them are realizing that they have.  i'm just so impressed with these people and this show!

and i can't help but think: what if i had started seriously working on something last year, and stuck with it, and sought out other people who could support me in my goal?  where would i be right now?  and, i guess, to be fair to myself, i did do that 3 years ago, and there are only so many major goals a person has for herself in a certain amount of time.  but, yeah... it just makes me feel hopeful.  and it's so nice to be reminded that if you want it enough and you believe in it and are willing to put in the work, there's a really good chance that you can make it happen for yourself.  and it doesn't need to take that much time either.  isn't that just so encouraging to know?!

this is one of the latest episodes, and it features the lady who wanted to write a world famous christmas song and get it on the top 10 holiday songs on itunes.  the beginning is a bit cheesy but i think it's worth watching to the end.
