when i was kid, my grandma and i used to go on movie dates. whenever a sad movie came out, she'd take me to coco's restaurant in pinecrest mall in ottawa. i'd have chicken fingers and a banana split and then we'd head out to ball our eyes out at the movie theater.
she listened to the easy listening radio station, smoked, drank beer with tomato juice, and bought weekly lottery tickets and tabloid magazines, which she called junkies. she loved to sing, called most contemporary music "la youyouye" and thought roch voisine was a dreamboat. she was the absolute best.
on the christmas before she died, she knit me the most beautiful scarf and hat, despite the fact that she was barely even strong enough to stand anymore.
today would have been her 88th birthday. i miss her and love her so very much.
